Free Film Screening- TONIGHT!

Join KSDS for a FREE film screening as we continue to celebrate The Coltrane Legacy for Black History Month. The event will be held in the AH Building at City College. Room 306 TONIGHT at 7:30PM. It will be a one-of-a-kind film that will highlight John Coltrane's career and show the only existing footage that exists of Trane.

You can park in Lot 8 for FREE. Just input “1343 C Street” and the parking lot is directly across from that address. The event is open to the public.

KSDS will be celebrating a different kind of President today.  Join us as we salute the "PREZ," Lester Young. We will play his music throughout the day focusing on the different periods of his illustrious career. And, at 7PM (Pacific), Loren Schoenberg, one of the foremost experts on Lester Young, will delve deep into Lester's career. There will be rare recordings, clips, interviews, and, of course, music. KSDS gets Prezidential- beginning at 7am.

Jazz Live with Diane Schuur scheduled for Tues. evening Jan. 9, 2024 has been postponed. NOT canceled; postponed. Details to come. Stay tuned to KSDS Jazz 88.3 FM and Jazz88.org for updates.

Due to an illness, Diane Schuur will be unable to make it to San Diego for tonight's Jazz Live performance at the Saville Theatre. Tonight's Jazz Live concert has, therefore, been postponed.

Please note: Diane Schuur’s performance is merely postponed, not canceled. Fear not, Jazz 88ers; WE WILL RESCHEDULE as soon as Diane is back at full strength. Of course, tickets held for tonight's concert will be honored for that to-be-announced "rain date."

The holidays are for family, friends….and Frank. We’ve heard from many of you and as a late holiday gift to you we will be replaying all 12 Days of Sinatra consecutively on New Year’s Eve, beginning at 7PM. The world’s foremost Sinatra experts and insiders—the men who’ve literally written the books on Frank—will bring you the music—and the stories—from each major period of Sinatra’s life and career. So, join us as we RE-Gift all the 12 Days of Sinatra to you- all 12 episodes played consecutively in its entirety beginning on New Year’s Eve at 7PM.

KSDS Remembers Clifford Brown- October 30th

KSDS-FM remembers Clifford. This Morning, KSDS will celebrate the birthday of trumpeter Clifford Brown. This fundraising event will focus on the way too short career of one of the most influential horn players in the history of jazz. We will feature segments throughout the day that follow his journey as a trumpeter and composer and offer great thank you gifts for your donation during this special birthday celebration, beginning at 9AM today.

The San Diego Jazz Community is invited to a celebration of life for Robert Bush. He was a beloved brother, father, uncle, grandfather and an invaluable friend and voice of the jazz and music scene in San Diego and beyond. The event in this Saturday at 3:30PM at the Athenaeum Art Center located at 1955 Julian Ave in San Diego. KSDS friend and former contributor Robert Bush passed away on October 20th from his battle with cancer. The San Diego Jazz Community has lost one of the true advocates for the art form. His writings and perspectives and passion for Jazz, and all music, was immense.

Our thoughts go out to Robert Bush’s family and friends. We will miss him, Rest in Peace Robert.
