San Jose, Calif. – Awards in 11 categories were presented at a reception this evening at the 2016 JazzWeek Summit at Vyne Bistro in San Jose, Calif.

Station of the Year awards were presented in three categories. Among stations with 40 hours a week or more of jazz programming, KSDS, San Diego, was the winner. In the category of stations with fewer than 40 hours, KANU, Lawrence, Kansas, was the winner. Among internet or non-terrestrial stations or syndicators, the winner was Public Radio International (PRI) for its program Jazz After Hours.

The 3rd Annual Imperial Avenue Street Festival, featuring Grammy® Award-winner Poncho Sanchez is set to take place Saturday, August 27th from 12-9PM! Come celebrate the eclectic and unique Greater Logan Heights area on Imperial Avenue between 28th Street and 30th Street. Admission is FREE(!) to this all-ages event! First Presbyterian Church of San Diego's 6th Annual Jazz in the Courtyard is set to take place on Saturday August 13th (5-8PM) at First Presbyterian Church (320 Date Street, San Diego, CA 92101). The downtown church that is home to Jazz Vespers, is bringing in some of the biggest names on the jazz scene for the concert. Headlining this year's concert will be The Peter Sprague Trio. Internationally known and the 2015 recipient of The San Diego Music Awards lifetime achievement award, Peter Sprague is considered one of the most exciting guitarists on the scene today! Opening the show will be Archie Thompson & The ArchTones. Doors open at 5:00PM and there will also be food trucks present. Tickets are only $10.00 (click here to purchase now!), or you can purchase tickets at the door, at any Jazz Vespers service, or at the office of First Presbyterian Church of San Diego.

Bandleader extraordinaire Gordon Goodwin comes to the Saville Theatre with his "little" Phat Band TONIGHT! It will have all the phatness just a little less. The Phatness includes Eric Marienthal- sax, Mike Rocha- trumpet, Andy Martin- trombone, Andrew Synowiec- guitar, Kevin Axt- bass, Ray Brinker- drums, Joey DeLeon- percussion and, of course, Gordon Goodwin- piano and tenor sax. It will be a Jazz Live you don't want to miss. We'll see you TONIGHT...oh, and don't forget that parking pass. NOTE: This show is SOLD OUT, but unclaimed tickets are available at he box office at 7:30pm the night of the show.

Jazz 88.3's annual Summertime Jazz Night Rooftop Concert Series returns to the stunning Westgate Hotel, Friday, September 2nd (6-9PM) with The Latin Side of Vince Guaraldi, featuring Larry Vuckovich! Pianist Larry Vuckovich was Vince Guraldi’s only student and played in Vince’s two-piano group “Powder Keg”. This program features the Latin works of Vince Guaraldi performed by a stellar quintet including guitarist Josh Workman, who captures the excitement of Vince’s collaborations with Brazilian guitarist Bola Sete. The Quintet includes: Josh Workman on guitar and John Santos on percussion. While you're there, you'll not only enjoy live Jazz, but also an array of Latin-inspired fare and cocktails. In addition, Chris Springer, host of Jazz 88.3's Latin Grooves will be your host! So mark your calendars and plan to usher in summer with your favorite jazz and blues radio station!
